Hedy Yang (b. 1996, Vancouver, Canada) is a first-generation Chinese-Canadian ceramic artist based in Detroit, Michigan. She earned a BA in Art with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Michigan State University in 2018 and completed a Post-Baccalaureate in Ceramics at Syracuse University in 2019.

Yang creates both functional and sculptural ceramic works that are meant to be lived with and used. Her practice focuses on elevating everyday rituals, like a morning coffee or a quiet moment at home. Her work often draws from short moments and experiences, like a sunset walk with a friend, or moving into a new home, translating the feeling from those moments into a permanent work of art.

Her work has been shown internationally, including solo exhibitions at Robertson Arès Gallery (Montreal), Louis Buhl & Co. Gallery (Detroit), and Square One Gallery (St. Louis), as well as group exhibitions at Culture Object Gallery (New York City), Applied Contemporary Gallery (Oakland), and during Homo Faber 2024 in Venice. She has also presented work at major art fairs including Art Toronto, Expo Chicago, and Future Fair New York.

Yang’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Crain’s Detroit Business, Fox 2 Detroit News, Detroit Design Magazine, and Artsy’s Most Loved List. Her ceramics are held in private collections around the world.
